Sunday, November 23, 2008 ok. so river regatta 2008 is finally over, how shall i describe it? it was. haha well firstly, unforgettable. there was the mood, the atmosphere. tense, relief, anger, everything that we felt, we felt as a team. experience la. the most important thing of all, and i agree with coach's words " no one can ever rob you of your victory and the memory of it" the moment the got through the last race, well they didnt show their longing to see the score, even though deep inside it was probably unbearable. but the did give it their best, perfect, co-ordinated rowing. and the 3rd place that the team got was well deserved la. could have gotten 1st or 2nd. but at least there was a medal. the guys came up, and cried together la. haha. once again, impact. didnt understand at first, then i realized how much the medal must have cost them, their time, effort, their everything. And to end the year with at least a bronze was everything they could have wanted. cried maybe cuz they were happy the got 3rd, or sad they couldnt get 1st. either way, is was quite a sight. girl team cried too. dam sad they couldnt get a plate, missed by mere seconds. ah, such is the irony of the regatta race, so close, yet so much difference. shant say what happened, shall leave it for the pictures. but i didnt go church and at first i felt bad. but then, well i realised, well. how often do these races come by? once a year, and for almost half the team, the last race in TP ever. So, yeah. i stand by my decision to stay. bonded more than anything else. ( tossed coin 3 times too! and all 3 times same result : stay) was pretty fun and relaxed the moment we left. all the guys happy, the girls down. but the humour by the guys was pretty contagious. heh so the girls were pretty crazy in the bus ride too. supper fun match makin the guys and the girls . hah. took coach back to school, buss-ed to safra's sakura to eat ( and once again i found myself limitless -till it was too late) and Jacky fetched me and bo chun to the bus stop. pretty cool. the bronze medal that they've got might be a meaningless trinket in years to come, but tonight, it'll mean the world to them. it really is "blood sweat and tears." no kidding. well. sitting and watching at the side lines isnt easy. to see them win and not have a part in it sucks. really. but still. im guessing my presence there meant something la. more for another day.
